We’ve all heard of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; but what about Sarah, Rebekah, and Leah?
The New Testament describes the Church as feminine. Paul famously tells Christian men in Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for HER.” As we begin 2015, on Sunday mornings we’ll be taking a closer look at several women in the book of Genesis, pondering the question: What can the bride of Christ learn from the (more and less prominent) women in the book of beginnings?
Like the Church, the women of Genesis were anything but perfect; and, unlike the Church, the women of Genesis did not have perfect husbands. Nevertheless, we 21st century Christians can gain valuable lessons from both the faith of a Sarah as well as the flaws of a Tamar–lessons that God will use to make us into a more holy wife for our Most Holy Groom as we live in this world and long for the next.
We begin this Sunday (Jan. 11) with a look at Eve, the “mother of all who live.” I hope you’ll come and join us, 10 a.m. at 4261 Manchester Rd. in Perry!
