We finish our 3-month journey through the Gospel of Mark this Sunday with a look at one more question – this time from some of the women who followed Jesus – as they approached Jesus’ tomb on the morning of His resurrection: “Who will roll away the stone?” As disciples of Jesus it’s easy to become distracted by the little obstacles of life and miss out on the miraculous. We do this because we have not-so-great expectations, that is expectations which are shaped more by earthly experience than by the life-transforming power of God. We expect that we’ll struggle in this life, have some moments of joy and happiness but all-in-all we don’t expect to be amazed–yet all the while Jesus is ready to astonish us. I’m not talking about getting rich, being famous, or even making ‘everyday a Friday’ — I’m not talking about having an easier life, but about living with expectant hope that because Jesus is raised from the dead, so now are all who trust in Him!
Come join us this Sunday (10 a.m. at 4261 Manchester Rd. in Perry) and let the power of the resurrection re-shape your expectations. See you there!
