When we look around at the culture of which we are part, there’s not a whole lot to make one’s heart ‘exultant’. There is however ample material for prayer! As we began our series on prayer this week, I felt I would be remiss to allow a Sunday to go by without addressing President Obama’s public affirmation of so-called gay marriage last week from a biblical perspective. This is an issue that affects all of us and it is one that Christians cannot afford to not talk about, both to those that we know, and more importantly to God in prayer. What’s at stake is not just marriage, motherhood and fatherhood, but the very gospel of Jesus Christ, because human marriage as God has defined it in Scripture is more than just a means for companionship and procreation, it is a picture of Christ’s redeeming love for His bride, the Church.
