Normally when we hear the word ‘concert’ we envision a relatively small stage where one or only a few performers sing or play music–compared to a rather large seating area filled with hundreds or even thousands of audience members ready to hear and respond to what comes from the stage. But a concert of prayer is different. In a concert of prayer the audience area contains but one seat and the stage is filled. God is the audience and those praying are the “performers” offering the music of praise and the heartfelt cries of petition to the Audience of one.
The heavenly Father sits waiting to hear prayers offered by His children in the name of His only begotten Son, Jesus, who says to His disciples in John 15:7:
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
With a promise like that, why do we so often fail to take the stage together? Consider this poignant quote as you plan to attend our Concert of Prayer, 7-9 p.m. this Wednesday evening (11/13/13) with our fellow believers from First Baptist Church (3918 Main St. Perry, OH):
“If you want to see how popular the church is, attend Sunday morning worship. If you want to see how popular the pastor is, attend Sunday evening. if you want to see how popular God is, attend the prayer meeting” (Armin Gesswein).
